In a bold move toward artist empowerment, Kid Vista also plans to pull much of his catalog from major DSPs like Spotify and Apple Music. “Artists are paid fractions of pennies for their music,” he says, “and even less when stream count minimums delay payouts.” Instead, he’s embracing the direct-to-consumer model, using platforms like Bandcamp and Even to let fans own the music - not just stream it.
“I think the future for independent artists is in D2C,” Vista explains. “It’s really the only place we can thrive.” Expect to see his full catalog available for purchase directly - because owning art hits different.
