Soft, Sharp, and Self-Made: The Rise of Tinywiings
In a music industry overflowing with noise, Tinywiings stands out as a rare voice that cuts through with honesty, vivid emotion, and a fearless sense of self. The Calgary-based rapper, singer, and songwriter has been on a relentless rise since 2019, when she first burst onto the scene. Five years later, she’s cementing herself as a formidable presence not just in Canada, but on stages and playlists around the world.
“I write the way I feel—unfiltered, often chaotic, and deeply intentional,” says Tinywiings. “Whether it’s a vulnerable line or a savage bar, everything I create is rooted in truth.”
That truth is magnetic. It’s what helped earn her a nomination for Rap Recording of the Year at the 2024 YYC Music Awards, after previously winning the title in 2020 and scoring a nomination for Artist of the Year. It’s also what pushed her to the Top 5 of the WorldScout International Hip Hop Competition, where her work stood out among over 1,600 artists, judged by legendary producers Scott Storch and Steve Lobel.
On stage, Tinywiings is electric. In 2024, she toured with King Iso of Strange Music, delivering raw and commanding performances to new audiences across North America. She’s also become a staple at LGBTQ+ events throughout the continent—celebrated for the way she blends high-energy performance with a powerful message of confidence and inclusivity.
“I'm proud of my softness and my sharpness,” she says. “I’ve been through a lot, and music has always been how I turn the mess into something magnetic.”
That sense of duality—balancing hard-hitting bars with moments of striking vulnerability—has become a signature of her artistry. It’s also what’s earned her recognition by CBC Music’s Searchlight, where she was selected as part of the Elite 50 in 2024. Her tracks have landed on multiple editorial playlists on Apple Music and Spotify, a testament to her growing reach and resonance with listeners hungry for something real.
Tinywiings has collaborated with underground and rising names alike, including Bali Baby, Eazy Mac, Mark Battles, and the aforementioned King Iso. Now, she’s deep in the creative zone again—building toward a new EP set to release later this year. It’s a project that promises bold evolution, with new collaborations alongside 86LOVE, as well as returning favorites like Call Me G and DJ Krazy Switchez.
“I’m an artist who leads with honesty,” she reflects. “My lyrics might be bold, bratty, or laced with clever punchlines—but they always come from a real place.”
As the EP approaches, fans can expect a steady rollout of singles, visuals, shows, and what Tinywiings calls “chaotic-good content.” There’s also a return to Philadelphia in the works—where she’s planning to reconnect and create with artists in the city that helped shape some of her earlier steps.
Details are still under wraps, but the energy is unmistakable: Tinywiings is building something big. As she continues to evolve, she does so without losing what made her stand out in the first place—raw lyricism, clever wordplay, and an unshakable sense of purpose.
“My music is about making people feel something—seen, strong, fearless, emotional, whatever it is. If it hits a nerve, I’ve done my job.”
With a new wave of music on the way and a mission that goes far beyond the mic, Tinywiings isn’t just making noise—she’s crafting a movement. And she’s doing it all with wings wide open.
Dope. She on the rise. Def crazy with the pen
